Judith Newton

Judith Newton is Professor Emerita at UC Davis, where she directed the Women and Gender Studies Program and the Consortium for Women and Research.
She is the author of Women, Power and Subversion: Social Strategies in British Fiction, 1778-1860; Starting Over: Feminism and the Politics of Cultural Critique; From Panthers to Promise Keepers: Rethinking the Men's Movement and co-editor of Sex and Class in Women's History and of Feminist Criticism and Social Change: Sex, Class and Race in Literature and Culture.
She is currently at work on a memoir, The Joys of Cooking: A Love Story, and on a series of poems Poetry for the Immune Deficient. She lives in the East Bay of California where she writes and tends her garden. See her at The Joys of Cooking: A love story.com.

Georgeanne Brennan is an award-winning cookbook author and journalist who has won national acclaim for her evocative and lyrical writing about food and gastronomy. Her expertise ranges from farming and agriculture to history and food lore. A charming and inspiring teacher, as well as a writer, she captivates and imbues her students with her enthusiasm and knowledge about the pleasures of food and the table. In recent years she has formed a consulting firm, Evans & Brennan, with Ann M. Evans, that specializes in changing school lunch. Georgeanne and Ann co-write the column From the Ground Up which we are pleased to feature here at iPinion.

Ann Evans is cofounder of the award winning Davis Farmers Market, the Davis Food Co-op, the Yolo County Agricultural Marketing Program and the Davis Farm to School program. For the past 10 years, she has focused her efforts on bringing fresh food into school districts, nested in a system of school gardens and recycling programs. With her business partner Georgeanne Brennan, Ann is now focused on creating a "California School Lunch Campaign" – in partnership with the Berkeley, California based Center for Ecoliteracy's Rethinking School Lunch Initiative. Ann and Georgeanne co-write the column From the Ground Up which we are pleased to feature here at iPinion.
